Please note, it says when you create a new account:
AdventureQuest offers a large number of slots for free players. Your new, free account will be able to log in and play, even if the server is full, for a limited time. After that, you can still play for free but you may or may not be able to log in immediately, depending on the number of other players online at that time. Guardian accounts can always login, regardless of the number of players online.
We do have multiple servers to allow as many free players as possible to login. We also increased the server speed for better gameplay. Our recent server problems have been solved by raising and lowering the number of simultaneous free players. We allow Guardians unlimited access at all times.
AQ costs a lot to run, so the game can only accommodate so many free players. Guardians help thousands of Adventurers play free every day. Become a Guardian now so you too can get unlimited access, powerful bonus items, new quests, and make it possible for many more free players to get online.
The reason we have Guardian upgrades is to cover the monthly cost of our servers and bandwidth. For a free game… AdventureQuest costs a lot to run! This is why it costs money to become a Guardian and why it is important for keeping AdventureQuest online. We would very much appreciate your support and understanding in this, and your help on the message board and chat. Our goal is to make AdventureQuest free (as much as we can) and continue to make it better every week.
